March 31 Updates
1. New: Group Mailboxes option for Lake Desire – We are currently discussing group mailbox options with the Renton Post Office. There have been many mail thefts in our area over the years, and they continue even as recently as a few weeks ago. We have enough information and support now from the USPS local contact to set up a neighborhood informational meeting for next Monday, April 7th at 7pm at the Clubhouse and discuss details.
We need to make this happen rather quickly, so if you are interested in this and can help to coordinate houses around your part of the lake, please email staffordlkdesire@gmail.com or call 206-498-1308 as soon as possible. We will follow up in a few days with an estimated price (our best guess so far is a one-time fee of $125 per mail slot). Thank you to Kristin Stendera and John Madden for getting this process going.
Participation in the group mailboxes is optional. If you would like to keep your existing mailbox that is fine.
2. Other Upcoming Lake Desire Events –do you have your calendars marked for these events coming up at the Lake Desire Community Clubhouse?
The meeting will probably be an hour or so. No need to RSVP, but feel free to contact me if there is anything you want to add to the agenda. Looking forward to seeing you, from Ben Peterson. Email ben.peterson@kingcounty.gov.
Bring your plant starts, seeds, or any other item you would like to share with your gardening neighbors to the Clubhouse. This is a really fun, informal event for local garden enthusiasts. We could use help setting up and cleaning up, so please email staffordlkdesire@gmail.com if you can assist. Thanks!
Join us for our annual Easter Egg Hunt! We will start setting up at 11:30am, hiding eggs for our neighborhood kids and grandkids. Please bring a snack to share, we will provide eggs with treats and prizes for the kids. If you can help with setting up or supervising a craft, please email staffordlkdesire@gmail.com. Thanks!

3. White Cooler washed up onto property – a big white igloo cooler floated into a yard on the West Lake Desire side around March 5th. If you are missing a cooler, please contact kwetherbee@comcast.net to retrieve it. Thanks!
4. Little Libraries – We have two new “little libraries” that have been graciously put up by neighbors in the Lake Desire neighborhood. I have attached pictures here, feel free to drop off a book and borrow a book. The first is before the boat launch (on the right) and the second is the house just after the boat launch (also on the right). Enjoy!
